Importing to Blender
Recommended Format
GLB is the recommended format for Blender. It has native support starting from Blender 2.80 with full material preservation.
Import Steps
- 1
Export from PolyMedium
Download your asset as GLB format
- 2
Import in Blender
File → Import → glTF 2.0 (.glb/.gltf)
- 3
Configure Import
Default settings usually work well
- 4
View in Viewport
Switch to Material Preview mode (Z → Material Preview)
Materials in Blender
Models ship with baked PBR textures embedded in the GLB, so the glTF importer wires a Principled BSDF for you, with nothing to build by hand:
- Select the mesh object
- Open the Shader Editor (or the Shading workspace tab)
- Base color, normal, and roughness/metallic are already connected
- Switch the viewport to Material Preview (Z) to see them
Editing Tips
- • Edit Mode: Tab to enter and modify geometry
- • Smooth Shading: Object → Shade Smooth for better appearance
- • UV Mapping: Auto-generated UVs can be improved in UV Editor
Troubleshooting
- • Colors not visible: Switch viewport to Material Preview mode
- • Scale issues: Blender uses meters; apply scale with Ctrl+A
- • Inverted normals: Edit mode → Mesh → Normals → Recalculate Outside
