A drawing becomes a 3D model for $0.25

Photograph the drawing, upload the photo, and 25 cents later you have a 3D model of it that you can spin around on screen, view in AR, or 3D print. The whole point is that it still looks like their drawing: the crayon strokes, the wobbly lines, the three-legged dog. We keep the hand-drawn look, never clean it up.

Detection is automatic

There is nothing to configure. Every upload is detected before you pay, and a hand-drawn sketch in crayon, pencil, or marker (including a photo of one on paper) gets a Doodle badge on its row in the queue, priced at $0.25. If we ever guess wrong, click the badge and correct it; the price follows the badge. Drawings also get their own recipe under the hood: photos of real things go through a restaging step, but a drawing skips it entirely, because the crayon marks are the asset.

Any snapshot of the page works

Photograph the drawing however is easiest: shadows across the paper, a bit of skew, the table in frame — all of that is cleaned up automatically before the model is built. The only thing that matters is the drawing itself: bold marker and crayon lines survive the trip to 3D better than faint pencil. If a very light sketch misses, tracing the outline in marker changes the result more than any photo ever will.

Make it real: the same character, as a solid object

Every drawing has two possible lives, and both cost $0.25. The default, Crayon toy, keeps the wobbly hand-drawn look in 3D. Make it real reimagines the drawing as an actual object and models that: the same character, rebuilt as the solid, printable thing the drawing was a picture of. You can pick either style in the queue, and you can also do it afterwards: a finished crayon toy offers a Make it real button, and a made-real model offers a Crayon toy version button, so you can have both. Each one saves a new model and keeps the original.

Printing it as a toy

On the finished model, open the Download menu and choose STL (3D print). STL carries the shape only, no colors, so the print comes out in whatever filament you load, and painting it is half the fun. What it all costs

A drawing is $0.25, and Make it real is $0.25 more, so two drawings taken from fridge door to finished 3D models is fifty cents, and still only a dollar if you make both of them real too.
